Hickory High School Bands

 
 

The Hickory High School Band is a multi-faceted program that includes not only superior-rated Concert Bands and Wind Ensemble, but also an award-winning Marching Band.  The Hickory Marching Hawks perform at all home football games, and enter multiple competitions each year.  The Concert Bands put on several concerts each year, including a charity concert in the fall.  In 2011, the Wind Ensemble, along with the Chamber Choir and Chamber Orchestra, raised $1700 for the Wounded Warriors.  The winter season is filled with competitions attended by both the Winter Color Guard and Percussion.  In the spring, all bands participate in the Concert Band Performance Assessment.  The band program is thankful to all who have contributed to its success.

SCRIP Program

Marching Hawks 2012

--BOA Super Regional Championships in Indianapolis:  Hawks received Outstanding Achievement for General Effect in Class AAA; 3rd place in Prelims Class AAA; in the FINALS, Hickory placed 8th!  First Virginia band to make finals at Super Regional in Indy!  

--VBODA State Marching Assessment:  Hawks received a Superior Rating! 

--BOA Regional Championships at Towson:  Marching Hawks won Outstanding Achievement in Class AAA for Music Performance, Visual Performance and General Effect.  They also placed first overall in Class AAA.  In the final performance, the Marching Hawks won Outstanding General Effect and placed second overall.  Complete results link on competitions page.

--Eagle Classic, a USSBA event:  Marching Hawks placed first.  The Hawks scored the overall highest score of all the bands in the competition!

Band Banquet

The Banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 29, beginning at 6:00.  The meal will be catered by Winston’s, and tickets will be $10 each.  Money can be turned into the black box in the band room, and is due by May 18.   Make sure to include name of student with payment, so that tickets can be given to them.  Information Flyer:
